The movements of the performers are strictly choreographed and have been compared to the precision of the movements in martial arts. The drums have been used throughout history as a form of communication, in the military, for festivals and theater events, and for religious ceremonies. The Wadaiko Gouken troupe is located in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was founded by Eddie Yates, who has over 25 years of experience and trained under sensei Daigoro Aska, the leader of one of the top taiko groups in the world.
