American Threads Book Club

10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Wilmington-Stroop Branch

Description

Join us for a new quarterly community book club as we continue our 2026 American Threads reading series, part of a nationwide celebration of America’s 250th anniversary and Ohio’s lasting impact on the nation’s story. This event aligns with Ohio’s May theme: Arts, Culture, and Literature in Ohio, honoring the powerful role that literature and storytelling have played in shaping American identity.

Our second title is Americanon by Jess McHugh, a fascinating look at how books and reading have influenced American culture over the centuries. McHugh explores the enduring impact of literature on society, language, and the way Americans see themselves—an especially fitting theme given Ohio’s rich literary heritage.

This book club welcomes readers of all backgrounds and viewpoints. As part of the America 250 initiative, the event aims to foster respectful, thoughtful discussion rooted in history and what unites us as Americans.
