Developing the skills to start a career in the arts can be scary--if you've ever looked at a blank sheet of paper or a fresh canvas and didn't know where to begin, this is your sign to come to the Main library and make something that inspires you!
Focusing on a particular career in the arts each month, join our teen librarian in exploring activities that connect directly to careers in the arts; from tips, tools and tricks of the trades, to best sketchbook practices, art skill-building, developing portfolios for job and college applications, and much more!
Our focuses in March through May include:
March: Thumbnails and design process*
April: Medical illustrators and anatomy
May: Murals and collaborative art
*Peek our calendar for Saturday, March 21st -- we will host a special weekend program presented by professional tattoo artist Alex Wood! You don't have to have an interest in tattoos to get something out of this program; along with the behind-the-scenes scoop on the tattoo industry, we'll go over how to craft designs that stand the test of time, working with clients, representing yourself as an artist, building portfolios, and much, much more!
Materials will be provided--all experience levels welcome! Ages 13-18
