Teens (Learn To) Chill Out!

4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Main Library

Description

It's time to hit the books... to learn how to handle hitting the books!

Learn how to understand yourself, identify and handle stress and anxiety, manage your time, practice legit self-care, and boost your self-esteem with resources from our teen librarian so that YOU have the tools to be your best self and live your best life. Sometimes, a deep breath and some water just aren't enough, and if that's true for you, you're in the right place. You've got this!

Upcoming topics:

  • March: What is the vagus nerve system (and how can I calm it down?)
  • April: How does my past experience affect how I feel stress?
  • May: The eight pillars of wellness - where am I and how do I improve over the summer?

Each program has a journal prompt--materials for journaling will be provided while supplies last. Folks can journal independently, discuss the day's prompt and activities, do stress-less activities, and explore resources for teens just trying to survive!

Library staff are not mental health professionals, case managers, or social workers, and will never ask for sensitive information. This program is not a replacement for psychiatric treatment or counseling--it seeks to share concepts and activities from existing library materials and/or in partnership with local professional organizations.
